There are some people that think we’re crazy for removing certain portions of our sites, network-wide. Well, the truth is that these sections are probably not really important in the times we’re living in. It started when our press section was removed. Many of our email-list members and LinkedIn contacts seemed outraged that we’d ditch this effort altogether. Why should we keep it? Our platform has more than enough traffic, and right now, the way things are headed, all the old distribution models are out. Maybe we’re an exception to some rule (which we’d never follow anyway), but right now, piggybacking and purchasing biz-credibility is very much a thing of the past. And to those touting metrics, analytics, or whatever that jargon was, get over yourselves.
You can’t waste time. Time is sucked away quickly and easily (just with the work put into something we’re trying to stabilize), and at any given time, many of our/your efforts may prove unbeneficial. Maybe not because we’re/you’re a dupe or have bad judgment, but maybe because frankly, it isn’t necessary anymore.
The press doesn’t care (not the main editors and staff writers anyway). All this online plastering etc., is just a money racket (similar to music industry programs over the web or work at home opportunities).
It has always been the case that no one really cares at first glance (that’s nothing new).
This goes for anything we often deem “old paradigm”.
So basically, yes, we removed a lot of the offered services, press release and external content. We’re still giving everyone what they want, which is the great free music and writings.
It didn’t, doesn’t, and will not change.
(And to be fair, yes, if you’re working totally traditional then yes, blah blah, you are hostage to the system because of your EDGAR filing etc.) – But! Who cares…?
Get it…..?
